How we met
The internet was created to unite people in the pursuit of something greater; and so, on July 13, 2014, it served its original purpose in bringing Andy and Alison together. Having just moved to the area, Alison located a site specializing in introducing those in the geek community through their most comfortable medium. It was her first and only dating profile in which she was too shy to include any photographs. After answering an exhaustive array of survey questions, she messaged her top match at 96%, and began getting ready for bed.
That same night, Andy arrived home from a late evening spent tending goal for a local hockey league. He had made the decision that he didn’t want to spend energy dating anymore and had logged on intending to deactivate his account. Instead, he found Alison’s message waiting for him. Having no fear of the unknown, Andy replied.
A two-hour conversation ensued covering video games, particle accelerators, travel, sports, and a potential mixed-media fainting goat exhibit. Encouraged by her mother’s recent interest in MTv’s Catfish, Alison suggested they meet sooner rather than later and plans were made for the following evening.
An awkward wave, a nervous laugh, and a quick chat over coffee turned into a 3 hour conversation as they walked the Streets of Woodfield until well after dark. Plans were made, promises kept, and 10 months later, as they sat in Andy’s car enjoying the early morning rain, I Love Yous were spoken.
We have enjoyed more, laughed more, and accomplished more in the last three years than we ever did in the years apart. We are thankful for all the love and support you’ve given, and are ecstatic for you to share in this next step we take towards happily ever after.
